Niamey
Security & Transport

Niamey, capital of Niger, joined the ASToN network in order to respond to the reduction in the accident rate and congestion in the city. Indeed, in 2019, 8,010 accidents were reported, for 112 deaths and 707 serious injuries.

This road safety problem is caused by a number of contributing factors: unregulated public transport, the road police with lacks resources, insufficient technical control and a lack of information and understanding from citizens.
